We recommend replacing cam bolts and inspecting bearing caps during installation. Reusing worn hardware risks improper torque retention.
Professional installation strongly recommended. The 3.6L Pentastar requires precise cam timing. Incorrect installation can cause valve or engine damage.
Before you start
- Verify fitment — confirm Wrangler is JK, not JL
- Gather cam lock tool set, torque wrench, timing kit
- Drain oil and allow engine to cool completely
- Photograph cam positions and timing marks before disassembly
Removal
- Remove valve covers, timing chain cover, and tensioners
- Lock crankshaft at TDC before removing timing chains
- Label and bag all bearing caps — they are position-specific
- Remove cams carefully to avoid journal scoring
Installation
- Coat journals and lobes with clean engine oil before install
- Install cams in original positions — do not mix banks
- Torque bearing caps in sequence to factory spec
- Align timing marks precisely before reassembly
After install
- Fill with fresh oil — do not reuse old oil
- Prime oil system before first start to prevent dry running
- Start engine — brief ticking on first start is normal
- Scan for codes and clear any stored cam-related DTCs

Does this fit the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL?
No. This set fits the JK body style (2011–2018) only. The JL Wrangler (2018+) uses a different engine variant. Confirm your body style before ordering.

No core return required. There is no core charge on this set — keep or dispose of your old camshafts however you like.
Are all four camshafts included?
Yes — this is a complete set. Both intake and both exhaust cams are included, covering both cylinder banks.
What does the warranty cover?
90-day warranty covering manufacturing defects — the part will be free of defects in materials and workmanship for 90 days from purchase. Does not cover damage from improper installation, oil starvation, or incorrect oil spec. Keep your order confirmation as proof of purchase.
Can I install these myself?
